OrCAD Tutorial I Introduction Tutorial
This tutorial starts you on understanding DRAFT in section I ORCAD/SDT .
Bring a disk (5 1/4" floppy is best)
1. Turn on your computer and get out to DOS
2. Get to the prompt
c:\ORCAD\SDT>
3. Type DRAFT a:test.sch
YOU MUST HAVE A FORMATTED DISK IN DRIVE A
4. When the worksheet appears, press the enter key or the left mouse
button and you will see the main menu (MM). Look at it and see what
is available. It is not intuitive. You can remove it by pressing
Esc.
5. Select Get from the MM and you will see a command line.
Use the Esc key and get back to the MM.
6. Select Get from the MM and enter 74LS08 on the command line
and you will get a gate (an AND gate).
7. To place the gate on your schematic move it with the mouse or arrow
keys and press the left mouse button. You will get a menu. Select
Place. If you want more AND gates place them as before. When you
are finished press Esc. The AND gate will disappear.
8. Try Get and enter 08 at the command line. You will see a menu of
several types of 7408 chips (AND gates).
9. When you are finished playing, choose Quit from the MM.
10. The new menu has several choices. These are interesting for now
- Write to File
- Save the drawing into a file you will name
- Update File
- save the drawing into the file you named at Draft a:name
- Abandon Edits
- Get out of the schematic capture program
Choose Abandon for now.
