CECS-174: creating a local copy of CECS174

When you use the CECS Computer Labs, it is recommended (and in some applications it may be required) that you have the files you want to use in the local drive (the C:\ drive). This page lists the steps you need to create a local copy your CECS174 folder for you to work with while you use the computer in the lab.

Copy the CECS174 folder from your network drive

  1. Use Windows Explorer to browse your network drive named homes on 'Samba Server'
  2. Right-click on the CECS174 folder in your network drive and select Copy from the popup menu. See figure for guidance.
  3. Now, use Windows Explorer to browse the folder in the C:\ drive with your documents. In my case, this is called monge's Documents
  4. Select the folder MyProjects
  5. Right-click on the folder MyProjects and choose Paste from the popup menu. This figure summarizes this step:

The result

The figure below shows the results of the steps above.

Great job!

You now have a copy of your entire CECS174 directory, which should include the bookClasses Java source code and the mediasources folder with media files. You may go back to the guide on getting started in the CECS Labs. This link should take you back.
